History of Miss International
The Miss International pageant was first held in 1960 in Long Beach, California, USA. It was created after the Miss Universe pageant moved to another city. The competition was held in Long Beach until 1967. After that, it moved to Japan from 1968 to 1970, where it was organized in cities hosting the Expo '70.
In 1971, the pageant was again held in Long Beach. After that, it was organized every year in Japan until 2003. Since 2004, the pageant has been held in Japan or China. The first winner of Miss International in 1960 was Stella Márquez from Colombia. Over the years, Miss International has become a symbol of cultural exchange, friendship, and global unity, bringing together participants from different parts of the world.
